The above image was quickly adjusted to test the performance of the Hasselblad Phocus 2.5 for mac. Here are some rough adjustments i did:

  • Increase exposure by one stop
  • increase contrast by 50 pts
  • decrease saturation by 30 points
  • sharpen until.. well.. it looks sharp
Pretty much that's it. Then i got curious becasue i also happen to have Adobe Camera Raw, Aperture 3 and Canon's own Digital Photo Professional. So i did a very very very rough edit using the same set of adjustments on the same image.

Trying out the #Hasselblad H4D-40 with @Profoto lights

May 19, 2010  |  Blog, Reviews  |  No Comments

Let me try to summarize what happened yesterday. Yesterday at the Hasselblad Singapore H4D-40 launch event, there were four sets of Hasselblad H4D-40 cameras at four booths for demonstrations. However, for some reason they were missing a fourth photographer to do demonstration on the model above. So Denis (manager) asked if i wanted to help him out with a favor: Photograph the model with the H4D-40 so that the model set up and everything does not go to waste. My reply: YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got this item from a fellow Clubsnapper Castwind, who happens to be run a business selling local-made flash to the european market. The brand is called Brilliant and naturally sells at a significantly cheaper price than most competitors you can think of. According to Castwind (Lucas), his company does not do any business in Singapore as his main business is in Europe.

Comparing ring light with post production

Comparing ring light with post production

Basically what i tried to do here was to eliminate ambient light on the background to make my flowers punch out. That is why the background has a lot of shadow as if it was shot in the night. So here i have two ways of doing it: with post-production and shooting with ring-light ----> which allows me to kill off ambient light on the background and illuminate the flower with ring light instead.

Controlling your light ratio in flower shots (Part a)

I may be new to flower photography, but i do know a thing or two about lighting. Which is why you will realize that my flowers have some degree of controlled lighting ratio. Some FYP photos to share

Here are some photos from my FYP. When i came to NTU WKWSCI, i dreamed of someday being able to showcase my photography works just like my seniors. Three years have come and gone by but that day did not arrive. Some of my friends ask why did i not fight for the chance to get my works showcased in the recent school event featuring FYP photojournalism works. Well, for a start, my FYP was not a photojournalism project. Secondly, i was never invited to showcase. So why force it?
