Epic fail attempt at trying to compare the various image processing software

The above image was quickly adjusted to test the performance of the Hasselblad Phocus 2.5 for mac.

Here are some rough adjustments i did:

  • Increase exposure by one stop
  • increase contrast by 50 pts
  • decrease saturation by 30 points
  • sharpen until.. well.. it looks sharp

Pretty much that’s it. Then i got curious becasue i also happen to have Adobe Camera Raw, Aperture 3 and Canon’s own Digital Photo Professional. So i did a very very very rough edit using the same set of adjustments on the same image.

Here’s how the others look like.

Canon's Digital Photo Professional

Canon's Digital Photo Professional

Aperture 3

Aperture 3

Adobe Camera Raw

Adobe Camera Raw

What do you think? Again, they are very rough adjustments but my vote goes to Phocus 2.5 and Aperture 3.

Once i get my hands on CaptureOne Pro 5, i will update this post.

  1. Hmm… I find it hard to compare. A 100% crop with the images in line would make it easier to compare. The scales for the different settings must be way different for the apps since they vary so much. Out of these I’d say Phocus is the best though.
