#Hasselblad Singapore’s launch of the H4D-40

May 18, 2010  |  Blog

Got invited to attend the launch of Hasselblad H4D-40 medium format camera this evening at Shriro House. Since there were plenty of talk about the ‘True Focus’ capabilities of the H4D so i decided to go take a look and possibly try out the camera.

Before i go further, here’s some photos of the event.

Shooters trying out the 10fps Profoto flash

See that octa softbox? Awesome light modifier

Some camera bags were on sale too. Tamrac i think

Steve McCurry's photos were printed out with HP's large format printers. Shot on a H4D-40 i think.

Surprisingly some of my fav photographers' work were printed for showcase.

I think the photographer here pose better than the model lol

Yet another H4D-40 on demo, i think there were like four H4D-40/50 on demo.

Sample works

Zeiss lens on sale too! Slurps

The segment that i was truly looking forward to was Edward Loh’s talk about his photographs. In the end, while his talk were informative and such, i guess i’ve been exposed to more too much commercial works to be amazed anymore.

Loh also took the opportunity to announce his new cafe at Ann Siang Hill. According to his producer Eric whom i spoke to, the cafe also serves as a place to teach photo classes to0. Interesting concept.

When i eventually have the chance to visit his cafe, i will blog about it.

Ok this is a somewhat dense post. Therefore i will leave the H4D-40 photos i took for another post.

In case you are curious, here’s a 100% crop of a H4D-40 photo, shot with the 80mm f/2.8 kit lens.

Hopefully this image will make you come back for my next post on the H4D-40 photos. lol

All in all, kudos to Shriro, Denis, Lawrence, Pamela and gang’s effort going into this launch. Well done.
